Royal Worcester could possibly be the oldest porcelain company in the entire world. It was founded in 1751 by John Wall and William Davis who developed a new way of producing porcelain. The company was known as the "Royal Porcelain Works" starting in 1788 after a visit from George III, and two more royal warrants were given to the company from the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1807 and 1808.

In 1976, the Royal Worcester company merged with Spode and in 2009 it was acquired by the Portmeirion Pottery Group. Royal Worcester Lavinia was produced in Cream (Z2375) from 1938 to 1991, and in White (Z2821) from 1980 to 2002. The gold trim on this pattern means it is not safe for use in the microwave.
